With new knives dropping daily from an ever-growing multitude of makers, it’s easy for EDC enthusiasts to become jaded, viewing them as oh so many shiny flashes in the pan.
But every so often, one comes along that stops us in our tracks, reminding us true craftsmanship ain’t dead — and that today’s new release might be the heirloom knife your great grandkid is polishing a century from now.
Such is the case with an upcoming Benchmade offering, a new edition of the Crooked River that can serve not only as a high-functioning outdoor blade but as a refined gentleman’s folder perfect for years of earnest use and eventual handing down to the next generation.
What’s so special about this knife? As it will not be available until July 15, here is an exclusive sneak peek.
Uncommon ingredients
Considering the current Crooked River features a CPM-S30V stainless steel blade and a contoured wood handle with anodized aluminum bolsters, upgrading the materials is no easy task.
Stepping up to that challenge, first and foremost, is the 15080BK-04’s knife steel.
