Puglia’s iconic White City has a new reason to shine.

Vista Ostuni, a five-star luxury hotel set within a meticulously restored 14th-century palazzo, officially opened its doors this July, marking a fresh chapter for the independent Italian hospitality group.

Located in the heart of Ostuni, the boutique hotel recasts a former convent-turned-tobacco factory as a refined oasis, paying homage to the region’s rich history while tying in elements of contemporary Italian design. The restoration, spearheaded by Milan-based architect Roberto Murgia of RMA Studio, preserves over 64,000 square feet (6,000 square meters) of historic interiors, from soaring ceilings to a glass-roofed cloister.

With 28 rooms and suites that showcase a modern, opulent take on Apulian tradition and hospitality, the new hotel is full of bright neutrals and warm, colorful hues. To insure that guests can unwind in style, the property also comes with a wellness spa (supplied with Biologique Recherche products), and indoor pool, and a fully equipped fitness center.

Michelin-starred chef Andrea Berton leads the hotel’s signature fine-dining restaurant, Berton al Vista, with an emphasis on Puglia’s local flavors and abundant culinary traditions. Bianca Bistrot offers a more casual, all-day menu by the garden pool, set among the olive groves and perfect for lounging in the sun. As far as tipples, head to the Chiostro Bar for a chance to relax in the hotel’s cloister, or try out the Infinity rooftop bar—where you’ll find yet another swimming pool. The property also boasts Mediterranean olive groves and fragrant native plants designed by landscape architect Erik Dhont.

“From the moment we first discovered the property, we recognized its extraordinary potential,” Bianca Passera, chairwoman of Vista, said in a press release. “Restoring it has been a labor of love—one that has allowed us to honor its heritage while working with talented Italian artisans and using sustainable, locally sourced materials to give it a second life.”

Vista also had another mission with its new property. The White City’s newest hotel aims to introduce global travelers to lesser-known parts of Italy without sacrificing luxury, CEO Luigi Passera said in a press release.

Rooms start from $1,004 (€853) per night.
